Best Bets for Small Flowering Native Trees
One of the aesthetic values of smaller native trees is the way they light up the spring landscape
In the Southeastern region, native trees typically flower before the foliage fully emerges bringing welcome color in spring just when it’s most needed.
In addition to being beautiful, these flowering native trees are often the first source of food for early-season pollinators.
Most of these shorter trees grow well in some shade so can be planted under larger trees for a layered effect like you see in natural woodlands. They can also be used as focal points if larger shade trees are absent.
