Somerset Red Maple
A US National Arboretum selection made from a cross between October Glory and 'Autumn Flame'. It has exceptional, long-lasting fall color and colors well as far south as Georgia. The leaves remain clean through summer and have significant tolerance to potato leafhopper.
Pyramidal in youth then oval with a medium growth rate. This male selection does not produce seedlings.
Red maples provide cover for wildlife, nesting sites for birds, and are a good source of early-season nectar.

Faster growing than sugar maples, but not as fast as silver maples, this is an excellent choice for lawn, street, highway or park plantings, and as a shade tree for residential sites.
