Bracken's Brown Beauty was selected for its relatively compact, dense habit. Creamy white flowers 5-6" in diameter open May-June and are wonderfully fragrant. Flowers are followed by 2-3" long brown, cone-like fruits with beautiful red seeds hanging down from slender "threads." Leaves are lustrous dark green on top and cinnamon-brown on the bottom. One of the most cold hardy selections of M. grandiflora.

Southern magnolia provides nesting sites, cover for wildlife, food for caterpillars, and the seeds are eaten by birds and small mammals. The fragrant flowers attract pollinators.

Excellent evergreen tree with a pyramidal habit best suited to large yards, parks, and open areas.
