This selection combines glossy, dark green leaves that resist leaf tatter and drought making it the most popular sugar maple for the south. The handsome foliage turns yellow-orange in fall color develops later than many maples.
Legacy produces a very symmetrical oval crown making it a good choice where a narrower sugar maple is needed.
Sugar maples have long provided maple sap for syrup production and hardwood for everything from furniture to flooring. It is also an important food source of food and shelter for several mammals, insects, and birds.
