Magnolia grandiflora 'Little Gem'

Little Gem Magnolia

At 20-30' tall and 10' wide, Little Gem was selected for its compact habit. Tends to grow as a multi-stem shrub instead of a single leader tree. Glossy dark green leaves are 4" in length and covered with bronze-brown pubescence on the bottom. The fragrant white flowers are produced at a young age and for many weeks.

Southern magnolia provides nesting sites, cover for wildlife, food for caterpillars, and the seeds are eaten by birds and small mammals. The fragrant flowers attract pollinators.

Can be used as a hedge if lightly pruned.
